The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail
The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail
Hiking In The Fall

The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail is a 70-mile, continuous footpath winding atop the Laurel Ridge of south western Pennsylvania..  It winds from Ohiopyle, PA to Rt. 56, near Johnstown, PA.  The trail offers breathtaking views of the twisting Youghigheny River, from high above Ohiopyle State Park, to the beautiful Conemaugh Valley, near Johnstown, PA.  It is open year round.

There are shelter areas along the trail as well as places to get water. There are fees involved with staying out overnight on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. The overnight fee $3/person per night.  If your party consists of 5 people or more, than you will pay the maximum fee of $15/night.

With the beginning (or end) of the trail being in Ohiopyle, the Yough Plaza Motel is an excellent place to sleep in a bed for the last time for a few days, or even better, to rest and relax after the arduous journey, while enjoying all the amenities of civilization.
